In 1972, in Stockholm is formed a Swedish pop supergroup ABBA. The group featuring Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. The group’s name is an acronym of the first letters of their first names. They became one of the most successful in the history of popular music, topping the charts worldwide.
The first song we will present to you is “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)” and it was recorded in 1979. The song was a highly successful song for ABBA. It hit no. 1 in Belgium, Finland, France, Ireland, and Switzerland, while reaching the Top 3 in Austria, Germany, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Norway. It also proved to be ABBA’s most successful song in Japan, hitting no. 17.
